I wanted to incorporate writing in the piece. I always carry a journal with me. In the journal, I jot down things and scribble notes about painting. You can vaguely read my journal about an experience I had during a workshop on color theory.
I draw the views attention horizontally across the painting. From the notebook, to the bottle, then across the burning cigar, and finally to the boat that drifts attention back towards the center.
